Scars on face caused due to accident

Hello, I have a question regarding scars i have on my face due to a car accident 2 months ago. I have a deep scar on the left side of my forehead and a scar on the right side of my forehead and my right cheek (in which no stitches could be done because the skin was completely ripped off). I have been putting Vitamin E oil on the scars since 2-3 weeks after the accident until now. I have seen much improvement with the Vitamin E oil, however they are still very visible. I heard  cocoa butter works great in disapearing scars, but I am concerned to switching to cocoa butter. How effective is cocoa butter on scars? Also, since I am only 21 and the scars are on my face I am really concerned with them  staying there, how long should i wait before visiting a dermatologist since its only been 2 months from the accident? And last, hiow long should I wait to put make up on my face (concealer, foundation, blush, etc...)?
Thanks in advance, Nina

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
For these scars you can use cocoa butter or vitamin E creams. Topical treatments with acids and chemical peels can be effective but can take a while for the skin to totally revert to its normal color.  Microdermabrasion can also be done, but this might require several sessions.  Skin resurfacing using lasers is also an option.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hi Nina,

Sorry to hear about your car accident. Glad you're okay.
The skin on the face heals very quickly and you are doing the right thing by applying Vitamin E oil to it every day. Cocoa butter and aloe vera are other excellent healing and moisturizing agents, as well as Bio Oil which is known for its scar-healing properties. You can find it at most drug marts. I can't say Bio Oil is more effective than what you are doing now, but it won't hurt to give it a shot if you choose.
As long as the scars aren't open or painful then it should be fine to wear makeup. Just be sure it is hypoallergenic. Mineral powders would probably be your best bet.
And it is never too soon to visit a dermatologist. The sooner the better. :-)

All the best,

Brittany
