Severe Itching

I was at the beach two days ago and decided to let myself get about 15 minutes of sun before I put on sunscreen because I thought it would be beneficial to my psoriasis.  Needless to say I got burnt.  At first it appeared to be nothing but a normal, moderate  sunburn, but today (48 hours later) it turned into the worst itching feeling of my life about a half hour after spraying on solarcaine.  I have sensitive skin so I initially though that it was just a hypersensitivity to the solarcaine, but reading more online about sunburns it seems like there is a small percentage of people who experience this mysterious uncontrollable itching feeling.  I am 21 years old an usually a pretty tough guy.  I can deal with pain, but this itching, burning feeling is sending me into uncontrollable thrashes as we speak.  I went to the ER this morning and they said it was just hypersensitivity to the solarcaine and gave me prednisone and percocet.  The percocet is not helping and is making me nauseous.  The prednisione has helped little or none.  My parents are pretty much ignoring me and pretty much telling me to stop complaining.  I want to jump onto a bed of nails.  Any remedies would be greatly appreciated along with any ideas as to how long this will last.  Thanks.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From the symptoms it looks like contact dermatitis to the sunscreen. Apply some calamine lotion and some mild steroid cream on the rash. Also take some antihistaminic like Benadryl or Claritin. If the symptoms persist then oral steroids may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
