Severe jock itch????

Hello Dr....About two months ago i started to have an itch on my upper thigh, right between my upper thigh and my scrotum. I thought it was just skin irritation from my underwear rubbing against my skin or something like that, but i didnt really treat it. Now i have a large bump  thats red and almost kind of fleshy looking on that area, it sometimes causes a smell and itches too...Any idea what this could be? Any suggestions?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi

This may be a bacterial skin infection, a fungal infection or adermatitis. The smell may suggest that this may be infected. Skin scrapings in the area may help rule out a fungal infection. Keeping the area clean and dry will be able to help since fungal infections and dermatitis may be aggravated by dampness. Bacterial infections may present with redness, slight pain and a greenish or yellowish discharge.

You may need to apply topical antibiotics here. If there is no response in 2 to 3 days, have this assessed further by your doctor.
