Skin Itching

Hi,
I have been experiencing skin itching for past 7-8 days. I don't understand what the reason is. I have never experienced this before.
Nowadays the weather is Rainy. (Maybe it could be the reason, but not sure). I experience itching mostly in the legs.

whenever i do any physical activity, i experience some mild itching. Sometimes it becomes irritating.

Is it because of diet, weather or is it a skin problem?

Hey, i'm not a dermotologist or anything but have suffered from Dry Skin and Eczema for a long time.

I experience this also when bathing, my best advice is have a cool bath, not really hot.  I find the hotter it is the more itchy the legs become.

Hello Bhupinder,

Many thanks for your reply. I would like to add, that the itching is most intense after I take a bath. (In the legs, when they are wet). When the Legs dry up, the itching reduces to a very low level.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The first possibility is of dry skin. Dry skin results when there is not enough water in the stratum corneum for it to function properly. Too much soapy water, exposure to harsh chemicals, the normal aging process and certain types of skin diseases are some of the causes of decreased amounts of protective skin oils which in turn causes dry skin.

The mainstay of management is liberal use of moisturizers after washing with luke warm water. Soap should be used minimally. Moisturizers should be reapplied liberally during the day. You can also use a topical cortisone (steroid) cream or ointment like dermacort(hydrocortisone). Adding a humidifier to the central heating system of your home or using a humidifier also helps.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
