Hi
Would you be able to attach an image of the rash?
Betamethasone is a corticosteroid and these are antiinflammatory medications. Most dermatitic skin conditions and even fungal infections do respond to corticosteroids. Fungal infections and even drug allergies may present with scaling of the skin which is associated with a rash. The topical medication appears to be helping. If you have been using this for more than two weeks and no improvement has been noted, it is best to have this reassesed by your dermatologist.
Let me try to get an answer by saying this. I don't exactly understand how skin heals or repair. But since using this cream, the peeled holes, or circles have seem less noticeable because its almost as if, the exposed area are becoming my first layer of skin again. Which seemed weird to be because, I always assumed, that my hands would heal in such that the circles would stop growing in size, and eventually close up. I'm sorry if that didn't make any sense, I'm trying my best to describe this, and I just want to know whether I should keep using this cream, or just forget it and go back to dermatologist (*sigh* pricy).
Hi
This may be a case of fungal infection. Other differentials will be a viral exanthem or rash, irritant dermatitis, inverse psoriasis and even an allergic reaction (drug eruptions). If you are asking any medications or if allergies appear to be strong in your personal and family history, then we need to have this assessed further to rule out an allergic reaction. This may be fungal infection. An antifungal cream such as miconazole cream may be applied on affected areas twice daily for 3 days. On the 3rd day, observe if the area improves. This will mean less redness, itchiness and decrease in the number of the red circles. If the conditions persist, then other causes such as a viral infection and psoriatic skin conditions have to be ruled out.
