Skin biopsies

Can people have an acute attack of psoriasis?  I've been struggling with hormonal imbalance, thryoid problems, have no genetic markers for psoriasis, and my legs are covered in spots.  My skin biopsy indicated psoriasis.  I guess my question is: for skin biopsies, is the diagnosis given based on the rate of skin growth?  Or are all cases of excessive skin growth termed "psoriasis"?  Could this just be a hormonal problem?

Hello,
If the skin biopsy has shown the results to be psoriasis, then the diagnosis is most likely the same. Psoriasis is a chronic disease and does not show any acute attacks but people often show clear skin or remission for a few months and then worsening of their symptoms in the colder winter months. The exact cause of psoriasis is unknown but genetic predisposition, immune system and environmental factors play an important role.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
