Small dark (more like black brownish) blotch/round patch on neck and it's been there for a year now.

Hi, alright so i have this dark blotch/patch on my neck for a year now and i have no idea what can it be. At first it was a bit red but it developed into dark brownish blackish color now and i just do not know what to do. I am really worried about it and i want to know what can it be. I have no clue if it is related to my PCOS condition but i really need to know at least the possible causes for this. Thanks a lot in advanced!

Hello,
Your symptoms are suggestive of seborrheic keratosis(a non-cancerous benign skin growth that originate in keratinocytes and like liver spots, are seen more often as people age),solar lentigo(dark (hyperpigmented) lesion caused by natural or artificial ultraviolet (UV) light) or pityriasis versicolor(fungal infection)

I feel that an examination by a dermatologist will be the best. Without examination,it is very difficult to say anything. You can however log on to the following website and see the colored pictures of these lesions and see if any of these match your symptoms: http://www.visualdxhealth.com/searchResults/adult_Female_Neck.htm

Hope it helped. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing and if you have any additional queries.
