Hello,
For such old scars, you can go in for cosmetic procedures like chemical peeling, microdermabrasion and laser treatment. Hydroquinone has limited efficacy in such scars.
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.

Hi there! Thank u so much for any information u can give me! Is this cream an O-T-C? And do u think it may work even though the scarring is almost 2 years old??? Also.. i thought the scarring would have lightened during this time and it hasn't...do u think it will ever go away on its own? Thank u!

Hello,
The scarring is due to post inflammatory hyperpigmentation after scratching in eczema. The treatment for post inflammatory hyperpigmentation includes various skin creams like hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment. Apply hydroquinone cream on this scar and it should go away in a few days to months. If it still persists then you can go in for laser treatment, Chemical peeling or microdermabrasion. Avoid picking, harsh scrubbing, and abrasive treatments unless prescribed by a dermatologist during this period.
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
