I suffer from this in the lead up to periods. Never a problem until post 2nd baby. I have it right now I find that running my fingers along the hair a couple of centimetres from root helps as it helps unclog blocked pores... it does then feel a little greasy at roots but at least I can sleep without pain.
I am alot of search on Google then I find my problem is Trichodynia. nizoral shampoo work 100% FOR Trichodynia. I can't find nizoral shampoo any where. please recommend any drugs or shampoo
Thanks for nizoral shampoo its work for me 100% now not available in uae. I use alot of other shampoo but nothing for me.
I am 65 had this problem since a teenager as did one of my parents and two of my children. I believe it is or can be inherited my parent who also had it was told it is neuralgia. It is true washing the hair helps but when you get old and disabled suffer from severe dry skin well things get ugly. Enjoy your youth and be thankful for that I say.
Same problem i am having . Exactly the same issue, when it gets dirty it pains a lot, had to shampoo it everyday. MayLynn do you know the solution please help.
Infact the reaction at the hair roots may induce some sebaceous secretions which in-turn lead to a dirty scalp! You may do well with a course of oral B12 and Zinc. The catagen phase will again lead to anagen, and surely you should grow back hair.Do consul your doc.
Cheers.
This might be the only reason for this as I have been tested. Last three years have been full of high extreme anxiety and depression….Environmentally induced. Now that things have calmed down do you know if my hair will start growing back? I still have that pain when my hair is dirty; which is another mystery??? Why more pain with dirty hair. I can't go one day without washing. Thank you for taking the time to answer.
Hello, Thank you for sharing. Have you ever had a scalp biopsy? Just curious as mine showed up nothing at all, not even dandruff. I'm looking at Mattson's answer and thinking maybe this is the issue here. I do have a lot of anxiety right now, over the last 3 years. Hmmm, wonder if that can really do all this???
'Trichodynia' refers to pain, discomfort, and/or paresthesia in the skin of the scalp or the hair. There may be an associated psychologic comorbidity like anxiety or depression.
This could be psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis.
I would suggest Nizoral shampoo, which can be bought over the counter. I find it very soothing. Other ideas are neem shampoo, Psoriaflora ointment, or Arnica gel.
I understand your discomfort. These are the things that have helped me. I have to wash my hair every day. No conditioner as that makes it worse.
