Hi, I am a 22 year old white male and circumcised. I am also a virgin. Recently I noticed a very rough, bumpy texture on my penis head (glans). The bumps are dispersed everywhere on the head but appear to be more densely concentrated at the top of the head lining the bottom portion (away from the meatus, in other words). I could almost call them "scales." They definitely have a bumpy texture. The underside of the glans is much smoother and more "normal" looking and feeling. The bumps are visible whether my penis is flaccid or erect, and I can find no pictures on the internet, after searching high and low, of anything similar to what I have.
They are not pearly penile papules. The bumps on my penis are flesh colored and ON the head itself, essentially comprising the very texture of the skin. Imagine the texture on the torso of this iguana:
An imperfect analogy, to be sure, but it's the closest I can come to describing the texture of my glans. Even though the bumps are tiny individually, they visibly rise from the surface of the glans and densely concentrated are very noticeable. If I stretch the skin, I can see them more distinctly.
If it helps your response, I also have eczema and keratosis pilaris. I have been using a selenium sulfide shampoo for the eczema along with washing with an anti-eczema soap (ZNP Bar). I take a Vitamin A supplement for the keratosis pilaris.
I am not sure what's causing this. Is it due to environmental factors (chafing against clothes?), an allergy, a fungus or what. I always recall the skin on my penis head being somewhat "creased" but not bumpy. I really only noticed this recently, but it may have been this way for a while (2-3 years perhaps) as I normally have no real reason to closely examine my penis.
This does not hurt or itch. The only distress this causes me is that it does NOT look normal. So any responses as to what this is and how I can treat it/ get rid of it are welcome. Thank you.
