White bags under my eyes

About six months ago I returned from a trip to Florida (where incidentally I partook in a week of tanning) with very dark circles under my eyes. I tried various eye creams and to no avail. Upon consulting my dermatologist he said that they are hereditary, however I found this hard to believe given that they practically showed up over night! Now, just as I was learning to live with the fact that I look like I never sleep, the skin under my eyes has turned white. Such that, the condition under my eyes now includes the dark outline of the bags, only now the bags are white so that it looks like I've been out in the sun with sun glasses on. I'm not sure what to do at this point and I question revisiting my dermatologist as he was not much help last time. I have read that these dark circles can be caused by allergies, so I thought of visiting an allergist, but now am further confused as the skin has turned white. Lastly, I've tried tanning as it was my hope that this would darken the pigmentation under my eyes, only it did not and actually only made the condition more noticeable.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL

Hi

How are you doing?

Based on the image you have posted, the area which is whitish in color appears to be swollen. It seems edematous which stretches the area giving it a paler color. The significant factor you have mentioned in your post is that you had previous tanning sessions before. Tanning exposes yourself to UV and to direct heat if you did this directly under the sun. This may be a mild burn or a skin reaction to any of these factors.

Just avoid direct heat exposure and also avoid tanning sessions. They appear to aggravate the condition and may cause further skin damage. Apply sunblock both indoors and outdoors.

I have the same condition and it showed up almost over night.  Can't get rid of it.  I have been to a allergy doctor.  Tried lots of things and nothing really works.  I do notice it gets worse if I have salty food, lack of sleep and alcohol.  I think it may be a sinus thing.  Let me know if you find domething that works.
