Why won't my busted lip heal?

I busted my lip about four days ago. It is still somewhat swollen and seems like it hasn't even tried to heal. It is on the inside of my lip and scrapes against my teeth and it burns, especially when I eat or drink anything. How can I can I make it heal faster?

This happened to me once. At my birthday party I was hanging on the leg of a trampoline which was propped up on its side, long story short, the pole came out and swung right into my face, for about a week it was swollen still. If it’s just swollen it will probably go down eventually but if there is an open wound you should maybe try to clean it out and keep it from infection, a dressing on the wound might be a good idea

Sounds like it's in an area that keeps getting irritated and so it might take a little bit to heal.  Are you seeing anything that seems like the wound could be infected?  If there are no signs of infection, I'd give it a little more time- but if after a week you don't see any healing, give your doctor a call and have them check it out.
