all over itching with bumps

I just gave birth 2 months ago and while i was pregnant i began to itch constantly and would get what looked like welts all over my back. Since i have had my baby I itch all over, it started out just my back and now it is my arms, back, butt, legs, chest and sometimes my checks. When I itch I have little bumps all over me, some are very small and some aren't. I have always been kind of itchy since i had my son 3 years ago, but it has gotten to the point where I can't stand it anymore. No matter where i am or what I am doing....I itch!

Please, any help would be greatly appriciated. Thank you.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
What you seem to be having is called prurigo of pregnancy. It is characterized by many tiny bumps that may look like bug bites. These eruptions can occur anywhere on your body and may persist for three months after delivery also. Liver function studies, including serum bile acids, should be performed to rule out cholestasis or hepatitis. Treatment is symptomatic including topical emollients, topical corticosteroids, and systemic antihistamines. Also apply calamine lotion to soothe the skin.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
