allergy develops after a chemical burn?

Is it possible to develop an allergy to a product while you are fighting a chemical burn? I suffered a chemical burn that pretty much covered 40 percent of my body -from my forehead down to my ankles - and it seems that after that exposure I have a reaction to the products that I was working with during the burn and I suffer swelling in some of the same areas as the burns occured when ever I get near these products?
Is it an allergy that happened when my body was fighting the burn?
Thank you for the help!!!

Thank you for your advice. This happened about 18 months ago, I was not reacting to the products before the burn happened. It was after this that I suffer these reocurring re-actions.
I had been to the hospital at the time and then to my doctor when I returned home but I havent not been to see a dermatologist....thank you again for the advice, I will get in to see my doctor about it.

Will keep it posted.

Hi,

An allergy refers to our immune system's reaction in response to bodily contact with certain foreign substances. If you have a history of allergy, your condition could be due to an allergic reaction to a specific substance. The symptoms usually resolve after the allergen is removed.  Allergy tests are usually done to identify which substance or allergen is responsible so that you can try to avoid these in the future. However, this could also be a reaction of your low immune system due to the burn. It would be best to have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper management. A referral to a dermatologist may also be indicated.

Take care and do keep us posted.
