i think you may be right about this thing!! I too feel as if something is on me and i will add i thing i have noticed about my condition is that people sneeze all the time when they are around me. It makes perfect sense when you spoke about the spores. The itch is intense and and irritating to say the least. I also believe that fungal infections and candida also play a huge role in this terrible ordeal! Now if we could just find a solution.
OK, I think maybe I've got something worth trying. I've had this itchy stuff for about 6 months. I think it is a two or three part problem. I think that the underlying cause is a fungal infection, and it may be internal as well as external. What may make other people allergic is the spores, which are airborne.
The fungus feeds off of yeasts that occur naturally on your body. For all I know, the fungus may be pretty common. The issue is that we are hypersensitive to the irritation. This is why the itchiness becomes so miserable for us.
I think the fungus/yeast is related to sebhorrec dandruff. It may also be related to other skin conditions like acne.
The treatment that is now working has several elements. First, to sooth my scalp, I am using chemical-free shampoos and conditioners (often with tea tree). I use them after a dandruff treatment, the t/gel dandruff shampoo set that contains 3 types of dandruff control, all of them are anti-fungal. I also use tea tree or sea buckthorn soap, which are natural antibacterials. (not sure that is needed, now i think it is a fungus).
To sooth my skin, I use jojoba oil and chemical-free lotions. The olive oil hair product from Hollywood Products also helps. I do this everyday. For some odd reason, keeping my neck moist makes me feel much more comfortable.(Im also taking Claritin everyday because my MD recommended it. It helps)
The key change i started 2 weeks ago, and I have had a 70-80% improvement. I have started an anti-yeast diet: very low carb, no sugar, high fiber. I'm also taking cranberry pills and a vitamin called Yeast Defense. (Look up candida and how to control it with diet, most of the foods have anti-fungal properties.).
The other things helped, but the diet and vitamins have had an amazing impact. I have only been on the diet for a couple of weeks, but at least now I can go half the day without itching, or having people around me itch.
Also, stress and anxiety makes this condition worse, so try not to fixate on the situation. You itch a lot worse than anyone around you, so dont worry about it. You also feel it a lot worse because you are hypersensitive to it.
Hope this helps! I'll check back in a few weeks with an update.
