I am in a state of panic. I know my wife does not have an std. She has been faithful as I have not and am very shameful and afraid of this. I have disclosed to her about the affair and scared that i have genital warts. I went to my medical doctor and he removed 4 places. One was located in the genital crease next to my testicles and it definitely looked like a skin tag. He also confirmed this. He thought the description of the skin tag which was larger in the groin crease (upper part of groin) that I mentioned before was a wart, but it was also hanging by a piece of skin but the flappy piece of skin was larger. He said he did not think it was an std though. The Dr. on the expert forum said it was probably a skin tag because I think that it began as what appeared to be a raised brown spot and later turned into a piece of flesh colored skin that was hanging.
The other two spots of concern are as follows: One was located in the upper left crease of my groin and it looked like a piece of flesh colored skin, more pointed in shape, but you could move back and forth fairly easily. The other was located just above my penis in the pubic area and it looked the same as the one in the upper left crease (barely could see it, but you could move it back and forth easily. He said these were both skin tags. He has sent them off and I am supposed to hear the results in about 3-4 days. I am scared to death. He said there was a 90% chance this was not an std. Are the strains of HPV (genital) that are not 6 and 11 sexually transmitted? If the woman did not have warts on her skin and I used a condom, what are the chances of getting HPV genital? Can you get it from just rubbing skin together on the genitals with neither of the partners having outbreaks of warts?
Hello,
From the symptomsand your sexual history definitely genital warts need to be ruled out. HPV wart causing genital warts belongs to a different strain than that causing cervical cancer. Warts are caused by strains 6, 11, 30, 42, 43, 44, 45, 51, 52 and 54 of HPV and types 6 and 11 are responsible for 90% of genital warts cases. It is very difficult to predict whether the genital warts that you have had now came from a fresh infection from your girlfriend or from your previous relationship. Once an HPV virus invades a cell, an active infection occurs, and the virus can be transmitted. Then the virus remains dormant. The time from active infection to clinically detectable disease makes it difficult for someone who has become infected to establish which partner was the source of infection.
I suggest you to get a biopsy done from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
