contact dermatitis?

I developed a very dry, red, inflammed skin on several of my fingers.
This persisted for several months.

Finally it resolved with some corticosteroid.

But at the same time I applied corticosteroid, i ceased using contact lenses because the rash on the finger seemed to correspond to the area where I handled contact lenses.

I am using acuvue lenses and just a bausch and lomb sensitive eyes saline solution.

Is it possible either of these would cause this skin rash?  I looked at the ingredients and nothing stood out as a problem after some searches of the ingredients (boric acid, sodium borate, potassium chloride, sodium cloride, preserved with polyaminopropyl biguanide and edetate disodium.

Hi,

You are right in thinking in this fashion. Allergic reactions do need a lot of exclusion and deductions t find out the real cause. I am not sure if this may have caused the contact ds in your case, but I am sure that based on my clinical experience, allergies may develop to any substance which may be present in the environment. This may be chemicals which have not caused any allergies previously, but taken in combination with a different chemical, the body may generate an allergic reaction.

Therefore I do not rule out this occurence. I would suggest that you may get an opinion on this from your doctor who prescribed the contact lens usage. He may be best positioned to indicate to you the usage and thereafter also advise you alternatives if required.

Hope this helped. let me know if you may need any more information.
