diffuse hair loss 20 year old male

Hello. I'm a 20 year old male and during the fall season of 2012 my scalp started really iching and my hair started to shed severely around the crown region.  During this time I also had dandruff. This itchyness and dandruff persisted for about another 3 months, that's when I jumped on Nizoral 1%. It stopped the dandruff and the itching, but till this day I'm shedding and its very noticable. My hairloss started at the crown and has worked its way up to my hairline. My hairline is receding a little bit but its been like that since i was 15. As far as I know MPB takes time and goes through miniturization. I'm not ruling it out, I'm just very confused and would really appreciate some help. I'm not a bad looking guy and I usually style my hair, but this hair loss has killed my self esteem and I don't go out or anything anymore because I am scared. I would really appreciate some advise. Thank you for your time.

It's really a drag when this happens.  Nizoral is good.  I seem to be sensitive to the chemicals added to the water these days.  They tend to add both ammonia and chlorine now.  My skin hates this.  If you have any asthma, that's an even better reason to get a whole-house filter that filters out ammonia and chlorine (chloramine is the chemical that results).  For the shampoo you switch to when not using Nizoral, consider Neutrogena Clean green formula.  You could also try a neem shampoo like Theraneem   My boyfriend and I like that and it really cleans up the scalp and makes your hair feel full too.  Don't use conditioner.  You can use a diluted vinegar rinse now and then for a fuller look and feel.  Consider improving your diet.  Do you drink soft drinks?  Anything like that with sugar or artificial sweetners is not good nutrition.  Drink water and eat more vegetables and lean kinds of meat, poultry and fish.  Eat whole fruit rather than juices.  No fried food or fast food.  Take a probiotic.
