Large bump on upper right cheek bone

I have a large bump on my upper, right cheekbone. It started the night before last with just a little swelling. When I woke up yesterday AM, it was almost swollen shut. Throughout the day yesterday, the swelling expanded to the entire left side of my face. I've messed with it a little so now there is a little break in the skin. I kept ice on it last night which seems to have reduced the swelling. The knot itself is not round but long.... a little longer that the size of a quarter. It hurts and is very sensitive to the touch. Over night, it's like it moved up a little bit. I can now see it out of the corner of my eye. I feel like Shrek. The knot is hard and seems much deeper than a pimple. What the heck could this be and how do I get rid of it? I'm really concerned. Please help.

You can check and see but antibiotics won't help it unless of course it's an allergic reaction. (Hives, swelling, and itching would be signs of that which is why I don't think it's an allergic reaction).

Thanks. It is pretty painful.....So not even antibiotics will help? I was thinking I would go to the Doc tomorrow but if those won't help, I won't go...

That would be what is called a cystic pimple (those which are actually rooted to the dermis of the skin). If you mess with it, it will get bigger. The only thing that will help being the swelling down will be the ice. Hydrocortisone cream is what is used to treat them but even applying that it could take up to a week to make it go away.

If it isn't healed within a week you should go we a dermatologist because it could be a sebaceous cyst which in that case s/he will have to drain it. S/he will numb the skin and make a small incision (which won't scar) and will squeeze all the infection out being sure to get the root because without getting the root of it the cyst will keep popping up.
