Stop being so insecure and learn to appreciate that your hair is unique. Learn how to take care of your natural hair. Learn to love what you were born with. Too many African American women have issues with their hair because of their history. We are taught not to love who we are when we are bombarded by the media which is predominately European. Hi,
Hair texture is described as fine, medium, coarse or wiry, depending on the hair diameter. Within the four texture ranges hair can also be thin, medium or thick density and it can be straight, curly, 'kinky' (tightly coiled), or wavy.

Hair texture can also be affected by hair styling equipment such as straighteners, crimpers, or curlers. Also, a hairdresser can change hair texture with chemicals.
Hair straighteners work by breaking down the hair's hydrogen bonds found in the hair's cortex, which cause hair to bend and become curly. Once the bonds are broken, hair is prevented from holding its original, natural form, though the hydrogen bonds can re-form if exposed to moisture.

You will have to discusss the pros and cons of having such procedures done with a hair dresser.
