Hi,
I understand how frustrating this is for you. Keratosis pilaris may resolve spontaneously over time but the usual course of the disease is chronic. That is, it may be present for years.
There is no definite treatment or cure for keratosis pilaris. This is a condition wherein keratin plugs involve hair follicles and they may present with a rough feel of the skin. Moisturizing and exfoliation are the mainstay for therapy. The thing is keratosis pilaris is a benign skin condition.
Discuss with your physician specific medications that may help you with this.
Hi....I also find KP extremely frustrating. I have had it since I was very little and I'm now almost 30....still hasn't disappeared...haha.
Like you, I have tried everything to try to get rid of it...and nothing has worked. Unfortunately, they don't have a quick cure for it. Heck, they don't have a cure at all. They can cure cancer, headaches, acne, but not this :(
There are a couple things that I have found lessen the appearence of the red bumps. But none that completely remove them. KP Duty Lotion (cheaper if you purchase over a site like eBay) works fairly well. Keep in mind that it takes awhile for it to start to work. I also found that exfoliating once a week with applying the lotion twice a day seemed to make my skin a little more smooth.
I feel your pain!
