I have one more question.Ist it common for a fungus on your scrotum to not be visible?I see absolutley nothing but it definately does not feel right down there. It feels like there is a bumpy slightly ruff feeling where the hair folicles are.Thank you.
Hello,
Yes fungal infections like tinea cruris can effect any part of the body especially dark and humid places of the body like the body folds. It is common for fungal infections to spread on the scrotum, testicles, anus, armpits etc.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
let me clarify this more, its not itchy on my groin but underneath my scrotum/testicle above my anus.can you get fungus there?
I don't see anything on my scrotum and my jock itch in my groin has cleared up a while ago.Yes now I wash my scrotum and use hypo-allergenic moisturizing soap,I've always worn boxers instead of briefs,I keep the area dry and I apply miconazole. So far the redness/inflamation has gone away though it still itches but not as much.I don't know if it's psychological but its working.I thought jock itch only affects the groin and not the testicle/scrotum itself.I wanted to know if it was possible to get fungus on your testicle/scrotum?
Hello,
From the symptoms it looks like jock itch. Jock itch shows up in post-adolescent men and hormonal changes during puberty, lifestyle and heredity each play a role. Predisposing fungal disease like tines cruris may also aggravate it.
Wash your groin daily and then dry thoroughly by pat drying, not rubbing. A hairdryer is useful if you have hairy groins. The damp groin is an ideal site for fungi to multiply. Also wear cotton underwear and change them twice a day. and do not share other people’s towels. Application of local antifungal cream(terbinafine, clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, miconazole) and oral antifungal drugs are the mainstay of treatment.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
