itchy scrotum

i am new to this so am likely posting in wrong place.
i too have had a drive me crazy itchy scrotum for about three years. i have found hydroval (prescription cream) to be helpful. after bathing it without soap dry well and apply to scrotum NOT ON GROIN AREA. May need a second application on the following day. wash hands immediately after using. this will do until next bath or shower. another thing to try is to wipe the groin area and scrotum with a moisturised disposable face wipe every night before bed, available at most grocery chains, ask the pharmacist. most dermotologists refer to the condition as 'red ball syndrome' but are unable to offer a treatment. i think the problem is perspiration, all kinds of ugly interactions happen down there so try not to sit cross legged too long and keep it clean and dry, no scratching. any other sugestions?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It can be due to eczema skin in response to an allergic reaction. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist. Symptoms  can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
