painful redness in groin area

Between my leg and scrotum is an extremely painful rash
it is really red and hurts to touch and even to walk.

my boyfriend has been getting chafing in the groin area close to his scrotum, he was putting gold bond on it then neosporin, now nothing.... today he looked at the spot where the chafing was already occuring, it was yellowish whiteand it smelled! he said he thought it was like that because he hadn't showered yet. Is he correct or wrong?

Hello,

From the description of your symptoms,it sounds like chafing.Chafing is a skin irritation caused by repeated rubbing. To prevent chafing,apply a lubricant like petroleum jelly to your groins and wear clothing that serves as a barrier between layers of skin (athletic tights or cycling shorts).Avoid coarse clothing and wear 100% cotton fabric against your skin and clothing that is free of moisture, dried sweat, chemicals, dirt and other debris.

Also apply calamine lotion on the skin that has already chafed.If the symptoms are severe then pls apply a mild steroid cream like dermacort on the rash and get it evaluated from a dermatologist.
