The same thing has happened to me. I got a tat in Texas. I think it was 5hrs and very stressful. I broke out in this pimply hive rash. I took antibiotics for 4wks, washed in acne med stuff and doc gave me some stuff to put on it. It took forever to go away. I have multiple tats and I didn't understand. I thought my body wasn't use to the water out there, bf thought folliclitis.
Last week I go to a Tat Convention and pull another 5hr tat on my side of my hiney...extremely painful. I thought I was fine. Then about 4days later the same pimply rash covers my left side I laid on, under my breasts and a few on my arms. This time I'm not popping the pimples cuz that made them worse and spread. I'm convinced our bodies should only tolerate an hr or so!! I'm taking 3,000 iu of vit C and a probiotic. Hoping my rash goes quicker than last one. I'm not getting the antibiotic and I know this isn't my last tat.

Hello,
It looks like an allergic reaction to the inks of the tattoo which presents as generalized rash. Wear cotton clothes and do not irritate the area. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.
For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid. But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Perhaps the needle that tattoo artist used was not clean and you have an infection. Since it is spreading and keeps getting worse I would go to the ER or urgent care. They will probably just give you some antibiotics.
