red bumps with flaky top in pubic area

Hi. A few weeks ago a red bump appeared in my pubic area which looked like an ingrown hair. It grew to the size of my finger tip and it seemed to peel like dry skin (white flaky). I did some research online and also looked at some pictures to find out if anyone else had something similar. Either ringworm or psoriasis is what I have come up with. I decided to buy clotrimazole cream and apply it to the affected area. After a day or so another red bump appeared and the other was fading away. More red bumps kept popping up and each one would get bigger with the flaky white skin. I made an appointment with planned parenthood to make sure it wasn't an std. The doctor that examined me was not sure what it could be either and consulted with her colleagues. Thinking it could be bacterial infection in the hair follicles she prescribed me antibiotics. I stopped applying the cream and started taking the antibiotics. Just a few days ago I finished the antibiotics. I'm currently breaking out with red bumps all over my pubic area with a couple big ones with the flaky top. No bumps have shown up on my vaginal area as of yet. I'm really worried, please help!

Thank you very much for your response. I have seen a doctor and the diagnosis was infection in the hair follicles. My doctor prescribed me antibiotics and hopefully they will go away. Thanks again! :)

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
With the rapid spread of these white bumps, the possibilities of molluscum lesions and genital warts need to be ruled out. In adults, molluscum infections are often sexually transmitted and can transmit from one site to other skin sites by aoutoinocultaion. Warts can also be transmitted by skin contact.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
