sebaceous cyst

Hi there,
My boyfriend has a sebaceous cyst behind his ears for years now and from time to time they get infected and painful. He had them removed and drained surgically 2 times but they always come back! He has been to many different doctors and they would always say that there's nothing more they can do and that there's no permanent solution for this. He's getting desperate now and our relationship is falling apart as I can't stand the smell anymore..problem is that even when cysts are not infected there's still some bad smell behind his ears and spreading on his face! Please help! Is there any remedy for this?

Hello,
For treatment of recurrent sebaceous cysts, surgical excision by traditional wide excision, minimal excision, and punch biopsy excision may be required.Pls discuss these treatment options with a dermatologist.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or in case you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.

I have had these for about 22 years.  They come up in different places.  After my latest one was removed the doctor put me on 2 anti-biotics.  He had sent a sample to the lab for testing and found that there was something of an infection.  It took about 6-months to finally get all of the nasty smelling pus out of it but it is finally clear.  I have developed 2 cysts since stopping the antibiotics but they are both very small, growing slowly, and are harder then usual.  To me this is a positive thing meaning they aren't filling with pus. I have in the past used a drying cream also.  Something like one would use for acne as a teen.  Now also, and not to scare you, but ask the doctor to test for any blood diseases.  In my case I do have leukemia and the cysts wee one of the symptoms - or at least a sign.  I also have gout and other symptoms but maybe they can just check now and catch something early.
