burning rash + lymphatic swelleing

Approximately two weeks ago, I developed a minor rash around my anus. The rash progresively became more severe, and now there are tiny blisters where the cheeks come together (basically, a v-shaped pattern with the point at the perenium.) Two days ago, I noticed that the lymph nodes on either side of my genitals were swollen and tender to the touch. I had protected sex shortly before the rash developed, but I'm worried that somehow the bodily secretions could have trickled down there and given me an STD. I realize that I'm probably being paranoid, but the swollen lymph nodes have me being paranoid. By the way, Balmex (zinc oxide) reduces the burning sensation. I would greatly appreciate any feedback as I don't have insurance.

Although the zinc oxide initially seemed to alleviate the burning sensation, it also seems to have exacerbated the rash and caused it to spread. I was initially concerned about using hydrocortisone because I was worried that this might be herpes, but after switching to hydrocortisone and taking some benadryl, the rash is almost gone and the lymphatic swelling is diminished. Any idea what this is?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi

You have described this to be a rash with an associated burning sensation. This sounds like an infection. A fungal infection or an STD may be  differentials here. You may apply antifungal cream in the area and observe if this resolves in two days time. If it does not respond, applying topical antibiotics may help eg mupirocin. Wash the area with a mild cleanser and keep the area clean and dry as much as possible.

As for the swollen nodes, if the rash persists despite topical medications you may need blood tests for a complete assessment and oral medications may be prescribed.

Hi,
Under certain conditions, however, Candida can infect mucous membranes and moist areas of the skin.
Conditions that enable Candida to infect the skin include hot, humid weather; tight, synthetic underclothing; poor hygiene.A Candida rash around the anus may be raw, white or red, and itchy. candidiasis of the skin is easily cured with creams containing miconazole (MONISTAT)
Or it could be a bacterial infection of the affected  can also cause swelling of the draining  lymph nodes.
In this case a course of antibiotics for skin infections and application of anti-bacterial ointments will help.
