7 year old blood sugar levels

My daughter ( 7 yrs old) had her blood sugar tested at a dr appointment yesterday. It was taken about 4 hours after eating. It came back at 133. The dr wants to do a fasting check on her. Are her levels high?

Hello,
Hypoglycemia means she is going low.  But she is going high.  This could possibly be a precursor to her developing Type 1 diabetes.

Did they do a Hba1c?
Can you request a referral to a pediatric endocrinologist.

Assuming she is having problems with lows as well as highs, it will be important for her to eat regularly.  Meals should include fat and protein in every meal as this will help stabilize blood sugars.

Be careful about sweets and very carby foods (not too much), as these can cause high blood sugars followed by rebound lows.

Would recommend you read up on diabetes and it's management, as it will be important to monitor this closely.

We will go back to the dr on Thursday to do the fasting level. I have been checking her levels periodically to see what they say and they have been running around 130-131 a couple of hours after her supper.

Hello,
yes her levels are too high considering she last ate 4 hours before the test.  Her levels should have been < 100 by that time.
Did you do the fasting check already?  What was the result?
