Does ANYBODY here have LOW blood sugar and Not diabetic? DIZZINESS in 14 yr old. HELP!

My best friend, who has passed, has a 14 yr old daughter whom I'm very close w/. She lives across the street w/ her dad. She comes to me w/ health problems or if she needs advice, anything. For the past so many months, she has been complaining of dizziness, fatigue, heart pounding, headaches. I picked her up several times form school because of this... I have gotten late night phone calls from her complaining on how dizzy she is, she gets dizzy constantly. Her dad says its hormones... plz. We first went to the eye doctor, and she has 20/20 vision. We have an appointment w. her Physician this week, but she ended going to the hospital for extreame dizziness last night. THey did all sorts of test, and her blood sugar was 60. Her test came back fine, the Dr. said there is nothing wrong. She came back over this morning still dizzy. We bought gluclose tablets, which said its the same as oj or a glass of pop and works faster... SO- this is my question. Since the test say she isn't diabetic, what could be causing the low blood sugar? Is this normal for a 14 yr old? What about anxiety after the horrible trama of losing her mother 2 years ago? We are going back to the DR... I was just wondering if low blood sugar is commen and what are the best things to do to keep her safe and healthy? Has anybody here have low blood sugar and NOT diabetic? PLZ help us... I'm typing for her on her account,,,, I'm a 37 yr old female/mom. Thank you.

I'm 13 almost 14 in may. I have the same EXACT symptoms. I'm dizzy all day everyday. I don't feel well after sugary snacks and such. I had an OGTT (oral glucose tolerance test) which is a 4-5 hour blood sugar test. I was diagnosednwith hypoglycemia. I'm not diabetic, I have the opposite of what diabetics have. I too have anxiety because of the loss of my sister (stillborn about 8 months ago) and don't know what anxiety does with low blood sugr. I hope this helped. Take her tk the doctor, and mention hypoglycemia.

How good of you to take such an interest in your friend;s daughter; she's lucky to have you! Yes, there is such a thing as hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) without diabetes. ( 60 is hypoglcemic) There also could be other medical explanations for her symptoms. Until you find out, the glucose tablets are a good way to quickly raise her blood sugar. Also, do you know for a fact that she is eating well and regularly? Perhaps due to her trauma, she is not eating right? It's very good you have a doctor's appointment for her this week. Let us know how it goes.
