HI there,
Glad to hear your son has a pump now i heard those are really expensive!!! My son is not old enough for one he is just now 2 1/2. He is now starting to have a turn around and seems to be afraid or not as easy getting the shots now.
Just wanted to let you know about a website you can order insulin pump cases etc. and they have different characters Disney etc. I order my son his medical alert braclet from them and it came in a week. Very nice sport band, and nice engraving very durable. Check it out at www.ekacess.com
M&M
I read your post and just wanted to say hold on. I have found out myself this is going to be a long ride. I also see already with all the research and support for Juvenile Diabetes there is hope for our little ones. My son is not quite two and a half and was diagnosed one week from today.
That is a good idea to fax in the readings. My Sons physician ask for the readings to be faxed in once a week.
Thank you for answering...we are very lucky...my son has been donated a pump...This generous man in our community passed away 2 weeks ago...I've recieved a phone call from his wife asking if she could meet my son and I. This man was a diabetic and had a pump. His wish was for a child to have his pump if anything was to happen to him. My son is now the lucky owner of the insulin pump...There's lots to do before he is able to start using it...since it's still on a garantie, we need to have the names changed...they'll make sure the pump is in tip top shape ect...I'm waiting for their phone call today...I'm eager to get the show on the road! Thank you both for answering...I know I'm not alone...It's hard for people to understand what's going on if you don't live it 24/7. I know you know.
I am in contact with the diabetic clinic twice a week...there is no endocrinologist in this area...I have a pediatrician thow...but I talk more with the clinic... (By the way, I'm very much french so sorry for the misspelled words)
thank you again
I am not a physician, but the mom of a type one diabetic, I would suggest that your contact your endocrinologist and tell him your concerns, he might suggest increasing the dose or giving the shot at a different time, as NHP has a different peak and tail time than the other insulin
