Thanks again, really appreciate it.. god bless
I'm not sure if you mean foods to avoid for neuropathy and the answer is I doubt it but I would google neuropathy as I don't know that much about its management. (and talk to her doctor).
As for foods to avoid for managing her blood sugar: It is not that simple as all diabetics are different. In general carbs are what raise blood sugar so she should eliminate sugar and drastically cut carbs like bread, cereal, pasta, rice and potatoes. Some people do better with whole grains, for some of us it doesn't matter, it all spikes our blood sugar. The key is to "eat to the meter". That means try eating a favorite food and then test two hours after you ate and see if your blood sugar is under 140. If it is higher (that is where complications are formed), you either need smaller portions or to eliminate that food.
Thanks for the reply Zoelula, one more thing, are there foods to avoid for this cause? godbless you
Numbness in feet is caused by a diabetic complication called neuropathy. This is the result of long periods of uncontrolled blood sugar. Your mother needs to learn how to control her blood sugar to avoid further complications and to talk to her doctor about ways to treat or reduce the neuropathy.
