Diabetic rage

My dad has been a diabetic for almost 20 years. He keeps it somewhat in check (holidays are very hard for him). Lately he has become very violent if he gets too low. A few nights ago I went to wake him to go hunting with my husband. He was up (standing) when I touched his arm and said dad he turned and tried to attack me. It took someone else jumping in to get him away from me.  I've never seen this kind of rage in him before. Is it normal to have very very violent lows? He has resently started using a fast acting insulin could this cause the rage.

Low induced rage does happen its not common but does happen.

Insulin lowers BG, if too much insulin is take then BG will go too low.
please dont ask how mush insulin is too much.  each person needs a different amount of insulin.  The amount needed depends on food eaten how much insulin a person makes, how much insulin resistance a person has and activity level and a countless other factors.  testing BG and keeping a log of BG food (carbs, protien, fat, fiber) and activity, and insulin)  will help to figure out.

You should discuss this with his doctor.  Does he monitor his blood glucose at home before taking the insulin?  I have not heard of someone attacking when their BG is too low, but that does not mean it couldn't happen.  He could have a reaction to the fast acting insulin?  After he visits his doctor, please let us know how he is doing.  Hugs, Julie
