I also have hashi. I just got back my labs as well and it showed my insulin at 15 (fasting) and them it jumped to 70 after 2 hours. I am not diabetic. But what the doc is having trouble with is why are my triglycerides so low, @58. Any ideas?
What are the normal insulin ranges?what is to high and in normal range? Thanks

Do you consume a lot of carbs, or are addictive to hi carbohydrate foods?
Carbohydrate addiction is caused by an imbalance - an over release of the hormone, insulin, when carbohydrate-rich foods are eaten. Among its many jobs, insulin signals the body to take in food (it has been called the "hunger hormone") and, once the food is consumed, signals the body to store the food energy in the form of fat."

For now, I would not take Metformin. Metformin is used to treat Type 2 Diabetes and helps to produce insulin in the gut, the last thing you need.
Good luck in finding a new doc that will listen to you. The last one sounds like a quack.
