my fathers blood sugar is 224 how many units of levemir flexpen do i give him his Dr put him on a sliding scale. i dont know what the dosage is ???? i give him humalog the scale is 200 to 250/ 5 units and so on. Is there a guideline of units for levemir ? linda
That is way too high call his MD to find out how much humalog to give him.

I suggest you find a course on insulin usage. at a hospital or health center, its not like taking aspirin. The dosage depends on BG and amount of carbs to be eaten and his particular sensitivity or resistance to insulin.

The Levemir is NOT on a sliding scale. It is a given does once a day Or twice a day. 12 hours apart.
