I can only speak for myself. Metformin started working for me in a matter of days. Being type 2..on an insulin pump my glucose levels were extremely high. In the range of 300-600+ until I decided that I don't wanna die like so I made an appointment with an endocrinologist and she prescribed metformin 2000mg for me. Now my blood fasting is usually 80-95 and after meals never over 125. But remember everyone is different. Different strokes for different folks. I hope this helps you. Be well
If your sugars are over 200, you probably should be on insulin not metformin alone. Please see your Dr asap. Do not ignore your condition.
Low carb, moderate protein, high healthy fats diet (avoid overeating), combined with exercise will help control blood sugars. But in your case medications will also be required.
Shaunw84's advice is right on!
Are you saying metformin isn't working for you?
Metformin takes a few weeks of use for your body to respond to it.
If it's been that long and still not working then talk to your doctor. You might need to have your dosage changed. Or you might have to consider other options.
Also Metformin is just part of the solution. You still need diet and LCHF diet with lots of good protein is key.
And don't buy into the "fat" makes you fat and so it should be avoid. Fat is good for you, as long as it's good kinds of fat, specifically fats from nuts.
It's the bad fats like in McDonald's french fries that should be avoided.
Be well
