I am a 39 year old woman with diabetes for 10 years.  4 months ago I got sick Feeling like I was going to pass out (woozy) Since then I get the following symptoms... Evveryday 1. headache 2. shaky 3. heat intolerance 4. really sleepy 5. trouble getting to sleep 6. ringing in ears (4 months straight) Alot of the time 1. lightheaded woozy 2. nausea 3. paniky-anxiety 4. weak 5. muscle twithes in hand And at least once a month 1. zig zag vision 2. dehydration  3. belchy  I have had the following test and results...
FSH 7.1 mlU/mL
Hemoglobin A1c 6.4
Progesterone 1.0 nanog/ml
Prolactin level 9.1 nanog/ml
T4 free 0.93 nanog/dl
TSH Sensitive 2.00 mlU/mL
Folic acid 4.0 nanog/mL
Hematocrit 48.5%
Hemoglobin 16.7 gm/dL
RBC 5.45  x10 6/uL
WBC 11.5  x10 3/uL
Eosinophil percent 3.2
I have also lost 49lbs without trying over the last 4 months.  I take insulin.  30 units of levemir in the a.m. and 12 units of Novolog before meals.  Could any of this have anything to do with my diabetes?  I have had other tests and surgerys in the past.  Went off the Depo shot 2 years ago after being on it for 9 years.  My GYN said something about autoammune and diabetes but didn't understand ( he talks quick, lol )  I would really appreciate any input!!  Thank you!!

"isn't it possible for me to go back on pills?  I know people in the 200-300 levels that are on less insulin."

Everyone is different and only your doctor knows what medication and dose is best for you. Most family doctors, especially older ones, know very little about treating diabetes.  As I stated earlier, call your Endo for a re-evaluation. If you do not have an Endo in your area, or are unsure about which one to see, ask your GYN for a referral.  If not, ask your GYN if she has the proper medical training to advise you on insulin - types, dose, and schedule. Please get off the computer and make the phone call now.

Ok, I am seriously starting to wonder if I am getting to much insulin.  The only reason I went on insulin years ago was because the pills messed with my birthcontrol.  My family Dr. says I will probably never go off of insulin.  Between my weight loss and A1c levels and being type2 isn't it possible for me to go back on pills?  I know people in the 200-300 levels that are on less insulin.  WTH????  I fell like hell!!! :(

The t4 was 0.93 range (0.61-1.12)  The closest drive is 4 hours away.  I am worried about driving that far feeling the way I do :(  98% of the Dr. here are pill dispensers!!  My GYN is more caring about my over all health than my family dr.  Crazy!! Haven't had my vit. D tested.  Celiac does run in my family.  So does crohns, diverticulitous, breast cancer, parkinsons, and Graves.  The doctors here see me as over weight (which I am, but was at same weight for 16 years before this) so they see my 49lb weight loss in 4 months as a good thing.  I have been on major diets and couldn't loss weight.  Hey I also get hot flashes after eating?!?  Weird or what?!?!?  Thanks you guys.  I don't feel so scary having someone to talk to!!

First, congrats on getting your A1c down from 13 to 6.4%. Keep up the good work. Don't apologize for lengthy posts as much information provided help us help you.

"Oh, Hematocrit, hemoglobin, RBC, WBC were all high from the results and he said folic acid was low but B12 was fine."

High hematocrit and high hemoglobin are not good levels as it indicates a serious underlying disease/s. If you Google search the combo you will see possible causes. Are you close to major college university that has a hospital and medical school on or near its campus? If yes, go there. If not, go find one anyways even if it means driving for several hours. That is where the experts teach and practice medicine. You need to be looked at and cared for by an expert/s not pill dispensers.

Please listen to your Diabetic Doctor regarding the blood sugars, not your family doctor.  Your levels are good and not too low. Ideally you should be less than 140 at all times.

Hope your excellent efforts on the blood sugars would slowly pay off in your starting to feel better.

Have your vitamin D been tested?  Wonder if this could be something not diabetes related?  I would wonder whether you've been tested for things like celiac.  The weight loss could be due to malabsorption.

My GYN tested just last week.   Before I got sick my A1c was @ 13.  So I have worked my butt off to get it down to the 6.4!!  My family Dr. has me testing 7 times a day!!!!!  Fasting, 1 hour prior to meals, 2 hours after and sometimes once before bed.  All my postprandial are always under 140 usually  around 130-90.  My pre are ALWAYS under 120.  Fasting almost all the time 108.  I have talked to the Diabetic Dr. here and he says that my insulin and sugars look great, however my family Dr. says that they are too low for just 2 hours after I eat, he said 3 or 4 hours yes but not 2.  The symptoms come on after I wake up, take insulin and eat. Lasting pretty much off and on all day.  They told me I was having anxiety so I tried all the SSRI's but they made it worse.  Just the insulin and Acetaminophen once in a while.  I know the symptoms are not from anxiety, I get anxiety from the symptoms.  I am from an area where if you go to the doctor  for anything they give everyone SSRI's, Hydrocordoane (SP?), or High blood pressure meds :) lol  I do not have high blodd pressure by the way :)  The first episode I had of these symptoms they said it was the flu ( everything here is the flu also)  But when I first got sick my blood sugars were high 200-350.  They were that way for years.  I don't know what is wrong!!  Oh, Hematocrit, hemoglobin, RBC, WBC were all high from the results and he said folic acid was low but B12 was fine. Sorry so long but you seem so helpful!!

" 30 units of levemir in the a.m. and 12 units of Novolog before meals."

Since lab ranges may vary from one lab to the next, I can't speak much about your test results as you didn't provide any ranges. What matters here is the A1c result. Your insulin dosages appear to be high considering your A1c.
► When did you test your A1c?
► Do you test your glucose at home? If yes, what are the preprandial and postprandial results?
► Have you seen an Endocrinologist to reevaluate your dosages? I say this because most of your symptoms relate to hypoglycemic [low blood sugar] episodes which can be caused by too much insulin.
► Do you notice these symptoms coming on after insulin shots?
► Are you on other medications from your past surgeries or other ailments? If yes, have you checked for drug interactions?

I do suggest you see an Endo for a second opinion. IMHO
Good luck
