Another important thing to consider is physical activity. You can take 10-20 minutes walk daily or as much as you can. This will help control your blood sugar and also help your insulin work better.
Having gestational diabetes may increase your risk of developing type 2 diabetes and your doctor will keep a close eye on your blood work in the future. I wish you the the best with your blood sugar goals and also a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Sally thank you for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate you sharing you experiences with me.
Hello,
yes, insulin is the best option if you need to control blood sugars. It is hard work, but it is worth it for a h ealthy baby.
After the baby is born you may be able to go back to oral meds / dietary management, or in some cases it is necessary to stay on insulin. It just depends on how well you can control your blood sugar.
After my pregnancy, I chose to stay on insulin as it gave me excellent control (much better than oral meds). However, in my case I would have been on insulin sooner than later anyway, I guess.
Thank you, Sally. I'm on a low Carb diet and my doctor is talking about insulin. After the baby is born do you stay on insulin or do you go back to other medications?
Hello,
are you on insulin?
I found to control blood sugar during pregnancy I needed insulin and a very low carb diet.
