It appears McNeil Nutritions is not forthcoming when it comes to answering my questions. A spokesperson for McNeil left a vmail this morning saying, "This is considered Proprietary information". Their latest email also rcvd this morning stated, "Your question requires additional research. We are sorry for this delay and will be in touch with you as soon as the information you have requested is available." What? Proprietary information and additional research to tell me whether Flavors For Coffee is diabetic safe?
Plain and simple, since McNeil Nutritions does not want to come out and say Splenda Flavors For Coffee is diabetic safe, I would avoid this product at your discretion.
Correction:
"I called the 800# listed in the email and the agent/clerk who answered responded to my question, "What ingredients go into making a flavor in Flavors For Coffee?", with succralose/dextrose/matltidextrose."
Should be; I called the 800# listed in the email and asked the agent/clerk, "What ingredients go into making a flavor in Flavors For Coffee?" She answered with "succralose/dextrose/matltidextrose".
Below is the canned 'nothing' email response from McNeil Nutritions. I called the 800# listed in the email and the agent/clerk who answered responded to my question, "What ingredients go into making a flavor in Flavors For Coffee?", with succralose/dextrose/matltidextrose. I explained that she is responding with the sweetening agents not what makes up, say, a "mocha" flavor in Flavors For Coffee she put me on hold. I took that as big DUH! Upon return she told me the call would be escalated and would take 3-5 business days for someone to answer my question. Three to five business days to answer a simply question? How convenient, put the customer on hold, count to 30 and escalate the call. Next....
In essence, Level 1 Customer Support has as much product knowledge as a rock. Hopefully an answer will get back to me in 3-5 business days. By the way, this Level 1 agent could not guarantee that FFC is diabetic safe and pushed this question over to her escalation point to answer.
Here is the email:

I will post another thread when I hear back from McNeil Nutritions.
Thank you for replying. I wonder why McNeil Nutritionals, LLC, a Johnson & Johnson offshoot, the makers of Splenda, do not list Flavors For Coffee (FFC) on their main web page? That is the reason I missed it and questioned you. I apologize for my oversight. I did locate FFC but now wonder why McNeil's Splenda does NOT list the other ingredients that constitute these "flavors". The label has Total fat 0, Sodium 0, Total Carb less than 1g 0, and Protein 0, the same as regular non-flavored Splenda.
I am curious to know whether this product is safe for type 2 diabetics to consume for the ingredient label, to my eyes, is quite misleading. I have emailed McNeil Nutritions, LLC, asking for a list of FFC ingredients and whether they consider FFC diabetic safe. I will post back to this thread if and when I hear from McNeil. They say within 3 business days.
The product is called Flavors for Coffee, and they do have Mocha, cinnamon spice,French vanilla, hazelnut and caramel. But just because it says Splenda, doesn't mean it doesn't have sugar in it. Thank you for posting, Aheart :)
Who's they? Splenda does not make a chocolate nor a mocha product. Chocolate is absorbed more slowly than certain other foods. This means that the body has a bit more time to deal with the rise in blood sugar. Also bear in mind Splenda makes a sugar blend and a brown sugar blend. Yes, these Splenda products contain sugar, ½ tsp = 2 grams (Seven grams equals one heaping Tablespoon of sugar). When buying pre-made retail products its a good idea to always ask what Splenda "they" are using.
