Disney with Diabetes

I'm wondering if you have any advice for someone with Diabetes planning a trip to Disney World in Orlando Florida.  Some possible concerns I can think of are the hot weather, rides, lots of walking, finding appropriate meals, and taking an insulin pump.  Can you give me any advice?  Thanks!

Ensure you have your medications as ordered by doctor and remain consistent with  the times you take them because you will do a lot of walking which is a form of exercise.

2. Check your sugar as always and be sure to go to the park with your meter to check your sugar since the re is the tendency you may miss some meals.

3. Always carry appropriate snacks - I carry vegetables and some fruits - ha!! Stay away from the snack shops - they are loaded with sugar to boost people's energy so they can keep going and going and going------!! - I honestly think so.

4. Like waive rider said - good size water.

5. When I am on vacation - my usual doctor is not around- I ensure my sugar does not go up to 180 and above in the day time and i go to bed with a sugar of 130 - I try though I have been on worse ends atimes.

Enjoy yourself!!!

You're going to have a grand time at Disney World. I've been three times and enjoy each visit. Yes, the weather this time of year is hot and humid so be sure to carry with you a good size bottle of water to keep hydrated, and pace yourself. The parks are huge so do not attempt to see/do everything in one day. Don't worry for there are lots of sit down places to nourish your body with a variety of foods from around the world.
Best to chat with your doctor about your insulin pump. He/she may have special precautions or just say go about doing what you do everyday. Let the experts handle this one.
Now I wish I could go with you. hahahaha
