when should i start doing workouts to tone ?

I weigh 313 my first weight goal is 300  Im trying to take it one step.at a time. I do alot of cardio to burn fat like jogging and walking. When should I start doing workout to tighten and tone my skin and muscles? (I know skin doesn't always tighten back up but I can tell my stomach is trying to tighten and lift)  but. also , I want to build a little muscle and try to tighten up some in my arms. Should I use 2, 3, or 5 pound weights. I would rather not go past 5

I agree that it's never too late to start toning.  I'd start with the lighter weights and fewer reps and keep working up.  My doctor wants me to do 2 certain types of leg lifts and he wants me to do 5 sets of 10 reps of each, plus arm lifts with weights - also 5 sets of 10 reps.  Sure, I will, as soon as I work up to that!! Right now, I'm doing 2 sets of 5 reps of each and I'm only using 3 lb weights.  When I first started, it was a real struggle.  It's still a work out, but no longer a struggle.  I think, by this weekend, I might be able to add another 5 set of 5 reps.

Lunges, squats, plank, etc are also very good..

Its never too early to do toning exercises!  It will actually help a lot!  I would use a resistance band.  If using weights what I was told when I used a personal trainer that if you are upping 15-20 reps without straining they are too light.  Make sure to do three reps as well.  They are also many exercises you can do without even touching weights or resistance bands!  Good luck, you got this!  You can always pm me to talk more.
