Sulfur / Rotten Egg Burps, followed by throwing up

For the last 4 months I have had the same problem.  I get a burp that smells like sulfur or rotten eggs.  When I get this I know shortly, within an hour, I will be throwing up for the next couple of hours.  This sometimes lasts for a couple of days.  I also have bad, gas and runny stools.  If its not coming out one end, its coming out the other.

Is it something I've eaten that is bad, or am I suseptable to food poisoning because I've had it before?

Can you help me?  I would like to know what is wrong with me so I can take the necessary precautions to avoid feeling this way.

Also, is there anything I can take to keep me from getting sick when I know it's coming?  Or at least make me feel better.

Looking forward to hearing from someone soon.  I you cannot help me, maybe you can suggest, or point me in the right direction.

Sincerely, Mark (Collinsdad)

SOLUTION SUGGESTION Had exactly the same problem from when I was 11-18. Doctors were useless & made things worse. Was diagnosed wrongly as having a stomach ulcer & told to drink tonnes of milk. Thus worsening the pain & ill effects.

I did some of my own testing & discovered I was lactose intolerant. This WILL NOT show up in allergy tests as it is a sensitivity rather than a severe allergic reaction... even though I know it is darn severe at the time!

I have been free of symptoms since I self-diagnosed, took a couple of years for my body to fully recover though. I'm now 25.

It recently started again, this is after 1 week of starting the pill. (getting married soon). On close inspection, have discovered lactose in the ingredients, bingo!
Am going back to my gp (who clearly doesn't understand lactose intolerance) & getting a lactose free alternative.

Seriously everyone, it might be a sesitivity, I totally agree with previous comments about keeping food diaries & getting allergy tests, but remember there are intolerances as well as allergies.

Hello all my Egg Burping friends.  I have suffered from the "Rotten Egg Burps" for as long as I can remember.  My mom had them also and there has always seemed to be nothing you can do but bare it... My body has gotten so used to it that while sleeping it will hold in the burps until no more can be stopped. I then wake up knowing that with the first burp will come vomitting.  I hurry to the bathroom and usually end up dry heaving to the point of breaking blood vessels in my face... For the first time I am researching this on the Internet tonight for this is the first time I have had them 2 nights in a row... I recommend google and typing in "rotten egg burps" We are not alone... Tonight I am trying to stop them rather than baring them... I have taken baking soda and eaten pepto bismol tablets... Wish me luck...
