Tylenol Poisoning?

My dog is suspected of eating a toxic level of tylenol 500mg pills. He had bulging/swollen eyes and was rushed to the vet. Vet did blood work and urine test and came back fairly normal. At the time we didn't know what had happened. The vet did NOT test his liver function as far as I'm aware. Today (3 days after we took him to the vet) I realized he may have gotten into a lot of tylenol 500 mg pills and all his symptoms point to it as well. I'm worried about liver failure.

Is it possible he has liver failure or would I notice the symptoms before 3 days after the initial reaction?

He's slightly lethargic, but with an appetite and a slightly distended rib cage.

Oh, glad Karla answered.

Considering it has been a few days now, from what I read, symptoms listed would have probably showed up in 24 hours, however, not sure if there would be long term issues.  I did read liver function should be rechecked.  You sure he got into a lot of it?  If so, surprised he isn't sick.
I guess just watch fir any signs of swelling, yellowing of the eyes, vomiting and I think I read gums will take on a brown coloration.
Please keep us updated.

By "all his symptoms point to it as well" I mean that when we initally brought him in we had no idea he got into the tylenol. When I found the tylenol bottle I looked up the symptoms for poinsoning from it and all of the symptoms he had initially match what it says for tylenol toxicity.

The vet I took him to was crappy, and i"ll never be back. I also don't have any money so am using care credit to pay for it so funds are limited. I did look it up but I couldn't find anything on liver damage symptoms and time-line specifically. I think we will just sit and wait and watch him, thanks.

Not sure what you mean by "all his symptoms".

I had to look this up, which you could np do also, on the Internet.

Seems like most symptoms would show up within 24 hours.

I am just surprised, if you think the dog ingested that much, the Vet didn't do more or want to follow up.

Hopefully, you are free and clear if any complications.

No, they didn't do any IV fluids that I know of. If it was liver function was damaged wouldn't he show signs of it before now?

I would be back at the Vet, or another Vet, and get the liver function tested.
He didn't do any IV fluids?
