chihuahua puppy head truama

I have a 2 1/2 month old male chihuahua named ka'i. me and my boyfriend just got him a couple weeks ago. we have gottn him all his shots and he has been a very spoiled puppy. however two nights ago our puppy was around some younger kids unsupervised. we are not sure what happened but we believe he must have gottn hit on his head, possibly his molera (soft spot). after this had happened he ran to his bed and feel to the ground and stiffened out (his legs) he became very disoriented and his head was tilted to one side and his back was hunched and he could not walk. my boyfriend put a lil water on his face and tried to keep him as awake a possible. we could tell he was going in and out, maybe a concussion. we were not sure what to do so we kept him with us the rest of the night waking him up every once in awhile to make sure he didnt go into a coma... the next morning he was a lil better.. he would wad his tail and took a lil more there and not as disoriented. i was scared because he still would not walk.. only barely crawl. so we took him to the vet. the kept him there most the day and wen we returned later that day the dr told us that they did an x-ray and blood test and no bones were broken or fractured... but he has had some head trauma they believe. they could not tell us the existence of his head trauma and how bad it was unless we do an mri, being that im a full time college student without a job we could not get an mri we could only provide him with all his fluids, shots to keep any swelling that might of accord down and iv and hospital boarding which was just under $900. we took him home last night and he was a lot better, more active and not as in and out as the night before. he actually even ate and would wage his tail and look at us wen we call him. we put him puppy bed on our bed in the corner and i slept next to his bed and would wake up every hour to check on him. he would pee in his bed being that he cant stand up and go so i would also change his blankets and wipe him down. early in the morning around 5 i woke up with him on my chest, i guess he crawled outta his bed to sleep on me, this mad me very happy and have faith that hes getting better. today we took him back to the vet to get back on fluids and have his steroid shots again and let the dr watch his activity. we picked him up tonight and she told us that he is doing better, not 100% but hes better than before. she showed us his x-ray and everything was normal. she told us this kinda thing u just got to give it time and hope for the best, she said to be prepared that he may not get better (this i did not like to hear, i want him to get back to normal and be able to run around and pee, poo and eat on his own) she said t just keep him warm and care to him and come back in a week to have her check on him and to call or go sooner if he gets worse. im so sad that this has happened and dont even let him outta my site now. he is sleeping next to me right now, he does seem a lot better than before but i ca tell he still has some trauma... im scared that if he was hit on his soft spot that he might have life brain damage. i know i must just give him time but i hate seeing him like this, i hate not being able to watch him eat on his own and run around. please let me know anything that could help or if you have any information.

Oh what happen to your lil chi? I hope he's ok. I'm in the same boat now waiting and seeing. My lil chi must've somehow hit her head when playing with our dog when I wasn't looking for 10 min. We took her to the vet this am and they gave her a shot of cortisone and told us to watch her. That hopefully the swelling will go down. She tries to be next to me too, I think it gives her comfort. I try hard not to cry I can't believe how much I've bonded with her we have had her for a month now. She's really sluggish and the swelling seems to have settle down but it looks like her face is now swollen. This is so nerve racking. I hope you and your chi got through it. It looks like you and your BF did everything you could. Hope it all worked out.

I would try to keep him as quiet as possible for a week or two, although I know it will be hard with a puppy.  Don't give up hope, puppies can be tough.
