They actually are not all the same and You are never meant to give human medication to an animal without consulting a vet

For a start to help the cough make up this mixture( olive oil, honey with a squirt of lemon juice) mix in blender  till thick, bottle and give morning and night, will ease the cough, safe as houses good for man or beast.

As for antibiotics they are exactly the same as we take but make sure they are broad spectrum.250 strength not 500.... too strong.

But only if you have enough for a full course otherwise NO.

No!!!!   Best to get to the Vet, which I hope you've been able to do by now, and follow that treatment

"NO"!

You do not know the correct dosage nor the correct medication. Not All Human medications are used in Canine's.

No, don't give the human meds.....The incorrect dose could be a disaster!

If you just adopted this dog, there is normally a free 2wk. recheck after adoption.....Call the Humane Society and ask about it.....Explain what has happened....They might tell you the dose for human cough syrup....I'm not sure....Wouldn't hurt to try.

Kennel cough (If that's what it is) will usually take care of itself....However, cough medications (From the Vet) and sometimes antibiotics will make it much easier on the dog as it can last for weeks......I wouldn't wait!  The cough at night is awful!!!!

Let us know what you find out...Thanks for adopting!!!!!!!!   Karla
