Actually, what curious posted reminded me of something that happened to a friend years ago.
She used to keep her dog food in bins out in her garage/storage area. One day, she noticed her outside dogs all had diarrhea but her inside dogs where fine. Now, she is a Vet tech so she knew something was up but had her stumped. Long story short, when her son had hosed down the outside pens, the food containers had gotten wet on the bottom and she checked to find mold in that food. Rectified that problem quickly!!!! You might want to check your dog food, esp if it is old.
Hi,
I have two dogs - Ginger and Shadow. They also had same problem a few months ago, one after the other. I returned from office and found the entire house dirty. I can never forget that day...I was damn worried about my girls as I can't see them suffering. The vet told they had bacterial infection. My girls were fine within a day or two after the treatment. We discovered that we were feeding them Liver which had caused the problem. Check with your vet if any of food item that you are feeding to your dog may have caused this
Don't want to alarm you but that can be very serious! How was the diagnosis made as these symptoms can be any number of things (parvo, parasites, bacterial infections, poisons, etc). Does your dog have continual vomiting and diarrhea? If so, the Vet's usually treat these symptoms with IV fluids, sometimes antibiotics and steroids. I do know that smaller breed dogs can often be more prone to this. Often, you never know the cause and I really doubt it is the water you are using, esp if you are washing everything. My dogs have drank tap water for years and we have very hard water here that will leave deposits in the bowls. I guess it might be possible but I doubt it. I would look more at have you been to any parks lately? Has he been boarded? Any chance he got into something around the house? been around any other sick dogs??? Sometimes, we never know where they pick these things up.
Hope he gets better!!!
