We are going to get her a Kong today. She has been good these last 2 days. Like i said good thing she is cute and loveable!!!
chk out Ebay they have good prices if you dont wanna pay Petsmarts high costs! but i do think they could benefit in some way! Distractions and entertainment are great for dogs who like to chew!
Good idea with the Kongs. Thanks everyone!!
Have you tried Kongs? They are the best dang chewing toy EVER!! And with yummy treats even better totally distracts the dog! It helped mine and he still loves the thing even with nothing in it he still wants to bite it! I've heard they are the only thing that can withstand the awful chewing stages if you dont have em i'd at least try and see what happens! You dont gotta buy the filling if you dont wanna i made my own stuff up wet food treats pb mixed it differently in it and my dog loved it! You just gotta make sure you freeze it for a good amount of time so the dog cant lick it all out in 5 mins! So more than 1 is must i spent like 20$ for 2 of them they go by sizes though! I also heard a good idea is to hide the Kongs in different spots in the house if you let them free that way they find it and have something to do i didnt let my dog loose being a pup but yours maybe so since hes a year old already!
She is the most loving BIG creature around!! I have said many times it is like having a toddler in the house. I was so mad at her yesterday and last night she ripped her toenail and cut her pad on her back foot. She was playing with her tennis ball at the tennis courts and it is fenced in so you dont have to worry about her running in traffic but i am thinking that isnt a very good surface for her. She is limping on her foot today but i cleaned it all up again today and it looks good, just sore. I love this tasmanian devil to pieces but she is so naughty!!! LOL
They do sell something called Bitter Apple at dog stores like PetSmart and PetCo. I'd try that.
Labs are powerful chewers, I've been told. They have a powerful need to chew, especially those first few years. I'm sure she has plenty of chew toys but try the rawhide bones and whatever will work!
And I'd close off all doors to bedrooms, etc. and keep her within your sight at all times. When you're gone, I'd kennel her or put her in a room where she can't destroy anything. I've been told you can't really trust them until they're about 2 years old, sometimes older. The good news as you know is labs make wonderful family pets, are loyal, friendly and loving. Just gotta get them through those rough first few years.
Almost as bad as having a young teenager in the house, lol.
Hope things get better soon!
I forgot about that bitter spray stuff. Thanks seeana!!
Good thing she is cute!!
Hi Sarah well you know that the first 3yrs are hell with Labs for a start........ real delinquents lol.
You know that stuff bitter almond that you put on your nails to stop you biting them well get something like that, get a spray bottle and and spray everything in sight love to see her face when it hits her (little ****) lol.
Anyway go to your Chemist or Drug Store and ask them to make you up something nasty tasting but harmless.
Or go on the net and type in how to stop dogs chewing or get a recipe online to spray on your household items.
In the meantime aim that spray bottle full of water right between her eyes that will stop her in her tracks for a while.lol.
Good luck.
Goldens dont do that......... they dig BIG holes when young.lol.
