So sorry to hear this. Unfortunately in large breeds arthritis and hip displaysia are very common especially one the dog reaches about 7 or 8 years old. Most likely your vet will take some xrays to see if there is any arthritis or hip displaysia. Most of the time with pain management and simple lifestyle changes, dogs can continue living a healthy life. Wishing you and your dog all the best!
Hi it sounds like arthritis there is so much that can be done my Golden Retriever has got that ...he is the same age.
I had him on bute tablets for two months as I am also giving him I Glucossamine1500 tablet a day, stopped the bute as dangerous to go more than 3months on them but they gave the Glucosamine a chance to get into the system and that is all he is on now and they are safe, the bute tabs are cheap,a good stand by in the short term. He does not limp anymore as he lives inside he rarely gets cold and pain free.
Make sure he is kept warm that is so important ....also massage his joints with deep heat or similar ,if cold get him a dog coat.
joint pain. an appointment has been made.
the vet has given the max dosage of pain killer and he is still in pain.
i am sad.
What is causing the pain in the first place and where.?????????????????????????
