My dog, Tanner, has currently ate about 20-60 pills of advil. He's a 54 pound mix, lab and pit. I was not at home when Tanner decided to break into my bedroom to grab my advil bottle. When I found out, he had started to vomit. When this started to occur, I called the vet. The time frame he had to do this is about 2 hours, it had probably been over 4 hours before I met the vet at the clinic. That night, the vet had taken his blood to run the basic cbc and liver panel. All of his results had came back normal, but just as a precautionary, we hooked him up for the night on 3 liters of fluid to hopefully flush his kidneys and liver, just in case he had gotten into more than we realized. The next day, the vet had re-ran his labs for just his liver, his BUN increased as well as Creatinine. We were able to take him home that day, and brought him in the next morning for another test. They increased again, so we left Tanner at the vets, yet, again. The next day, that had re-ran everything, there was good news and bad news. The good news is that his Creatinine had not raised from his 2.5 value, which normal is 1.8. But his BUN was 39 and shot up to 44, so yet again, more fluids. Suspecting he had spiked, and hoping, we re-ran his liver panel again, results changed again. His BUN came down to 40, but his Creatinine shot to 3.1. Again, they're running more fluid through him (3 Liters), and there is talk of trying some type of medication to lower nitrogen levels and speed up blood flow to the kidneys. Is there anything else we can do to try to drop his Creatinine numbers or anything that we haven't tried??? His first couple of days, his demeanor was passive, non-active, maybe picking his head up to look at you if you were lucky. Now he's the dog he was, active, I went to the vets today just to see and walk him. When I walked into the room, he literally knocked me over. So knowing his demeanor changed is giving me the hope for best. Any information about this would be great. I've tried to do research via internet and not finding much. Thank you for any reply!!!
