focal seizures

OUR 2 YR  OLD MIN SCHNAUZER HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH FOCAL SEIZURES. SHE WILL BE PLAYING   OR JUST BE SITTING AROUND AND WILL STOP AND BEGIN BOBBING HER HEAD UP AND DOWN THEN PAW AT HER EYES. THIS LAST FOR ABOUT 15 SECONDS BUT SHE WILL DO IT QUIET OFTEN. WE HAVE HAD HER TO SEVERAL VETS, LAST TIME WAS AT UNIVERSITY OF TENN VET HOSPITAL WHERE SHE WAS DIAGNOSED. SHE WAS PUT ON ZONISAMIDE 50MG TWICE A DAY. SHE HAS BEEN ON THIS FOR A WEEK AND A HALF AND WE CAN TELL NO DIFFERENCE IN THE HEAD BOBBIN. SHE ALSO IS NOT EATING ARE WE EXPECTING TOO MUCH TO SOON? WILL HER APPETITE COME BACK. I HAVE BEEN BACK IN TOUCH WITH HER REGULAR VET WHO SENT US TO UT AND SHE WANTS TO GET IN TOUCH WITH UT WITH SOME QUESTIONS. I'M WONDERING AND I SHOULD HAVE AND WILL ASK WHY NONE OF THE VETS XRAYED HER NECK TO SEE IF THERE IS SOME KIND OF INJURY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON ABOUT 3 MONTHS. FIRST TIME I NOTICED IS I WAS APPLYING ADVANTAGE 11 AND WAS HOLDING HER BY THE COLLAR. SHE JUMPED AND TURNED A FLIP WHILE I WAS STILL HOLDING HER COLLAR. THE BOBBING STARTED THE NEXT DAY AND I TOOK HER TO THE FIRST VET SHE WAS GIVEN ANTIINFLAMITORY MEDS SAME RESULTS WITH SECOND VET THIRD VET DID MENTION SEIZURE FOURTH SENT US TO UT. JUST WANT ASSURANCE I GUESS. THANKS

I have researched the Advantage and found that it can be toxic to some dogs and have told this to all the vets we have had her to. They still think she is having seizures. She was being fed the Beniful that comes in the small plastic containers like a stew but since she has been put on the zoniamide her appitite has gone to pot. Just talked to her vet and she is changing to something not as hard on her stomach. Her treats are Milos chicken jerky and it is made in China so she stops getting that. Thank you

Welcome to the forum......This sounds pretty simple to me! More than likely its the Poisonous Advantage causing the seizures...You may want to google and read up on that! All Pesticides can & do cause seizures in certain animals.....

Next would be: Make sure you are feeding a high quality diet (Half Wet) with NO chemicals or preservatives, dyes, or by-products..Anything from a grocery store or discount center is laden w/ toxins!!!!

Study up on the food & treats your feeding.....If your feeding ANY chicken  jerky treats or sweet potato treats made in China, it's possible that they are the culprit!  Many dogs are dying because of them, yet none have been recalled!     Let us know.....Karla
